Life Without Health Insurance
There are more and more people here in this country who struggle through their days with a specific burden to bear. They are those who have no health insurance to cover them in the event of a medical problem.
They don't prefer to have it this way, they would much rather have family insurance coverage if they could afford it. But this is not the case and it is a burden for them as they never know if someone is going to have an accident or illness, and then how do they pay for that care.
When our citizens don't have health insurance, they delay treatment on anything unless it's critical. Doctor's are not usually an option for the uninsured, the emergency department is where they go to get medical attention.
The reason this happens is physicians can't afford to offer treatment if there's not insurance coverage or there is no upfront payment. Therein is the problem, if a person can't afford health insurance premiums they usually can't pay for a doctor visit either.
The emergency department becomes the place for care for alot of people with no insurance. There are some, though, who are very ill by the time they come due to lack of ongoing care by a physician. This is sad as they could have maintained their health if that had been the case. - 23211
